PCC NSW implements PAMDA program

Philippine Community Council of NSW Inc. President Ronaldo Villaver announces the implementation of its latest initiative called “Philippine Australia Microenterprises Development Assistance (PAMDA) program after it was given approval by the PCC NSW Board in its 5 January 2010 meeting held at the Multicultural Communities Collaboration Centre (MCCC), Bob Hughes Christian School (BHCS), 40 Hector Street, Chester Hill, NSW.

PAMDA’s vision is to become a world class Australian network of microenterprise development advocate providing low income households and microenterprises access to financial services thereby contributing to poverty reduction in the Philippines. Its mission is to establish a national network of microenterprise development advocates committed to the reduction of poverty in the Philippines through equitable access to financial and non-financial services. Likewise, PAMDA shall help poor households in a sustainable, innovative, and beneficiary responsive manner.

PAMDA’s objectives are: 1) to help the significant numbers of poor households with financial and non-financial services; 2) to advocate for a policy environment that is conducive to the growth and development of a microenterprises; and 3) to mobilise resources and to network with government, donors, funding agencies, investors, and financial markets in order to enhance the development of the microenterprises sector.

PAMDA program receives its favourable responses initially from those who attended the PCC NSW organised microfinance project briefing by North Shore Filipino Association (NSFA) that was held on 2 January 2010 at Liverpool, NSW. Among those who are ready to provide the initial seed fund for PAMDA for its tie-up with NORFIL Foundation in the Philippines through Violi Calvert and Bob Alipalo of NSFA are : Leon Aguila Association c/o Manny Roux, Visayan Association of Australia c/o Edna Voros and EVESTCCO – Eastern Visayas Community c/o Ronaldo Villaver.
